Of course I stopped everything, sprinted to the living room and stared at the telly until the advertisement was over. Apparently they now have bloody re-runs of Life on Mars on BBC Entertainment. On Wednesdays. That means Gene Hunt, Sam Tyler and Chris Skelton on the telly every damn week while I’m fucking unable to see it!
I know - even when you have them on DVD, as I do, it’s very hard not to watch them or to feel you’re missing out if you can’t… the power of the Simm….!
sorry I missed this message but I guess you know by know that I did…:-)
*dies* thanks for that - will try to imagine it, LOL.
oo, now there’s a question.. I have long dark brown hair, I’m quite short (5 ft 5-ish) and a bit dumpy and I was probably wearing a red linen jacket with either a dark patterned top with black trousers or cream trousers with a silver top… (have photos but am not sure which night was which, lol). Sorry I missed your earlier message asking if I was going - there’s no date on it so not sure when you sent it or where I was at the time!
I agree 200% with everything that has been said on this subject… having now seen ‘Betrayal’ four times (and it’s not enough, I tell you!) I am even more in awe of him than I was before… I have just one question - “…His smell…” I can’t say I noticed, so please…. how did he smell to you?!? LOL. I think I was just so entranced that I wouldn’t have noticed if he had a stinky kipper in his pocket… although I’m assuming it was a nice smell!!! I’m just a bit peeved that I didn’t notice… What day was it when everyone was too nervous to approach and he went all pro-active for his star-struck fans??? I was there on 1st/2nd June and two weeks earlier on 18th/19th May, and I think I do remember an occasion when everyone hesitated and he hesitated and then stepped forward (he looked like he was going to bolt but bless him, he didn’t)…. not sure if it was the same occasion you describe, though.
That awkwardness is one of the things I love about him - it makes you feel almost protective, doesn’t it, even though he’s well able to fend for himself of course! There’s just something heart-stoppingly delightful about a man who is clearly not totally at ease with the whole fame-and-autographs thing yet who makes such an effort to oblige… I have to say also that I LOVE The Crucible for the fact that its possible to walk up the hill to the bar with your pals and know that John is following close behind, and then… to be able to spend the evening sitting just feet away… able to glance up and see him and hear his voice at intervals… ah, absolute heaven.
OK so that’s my massive squee session over… but do tell about the smell, please, I’m all agog! LOL. Was it aftershave/shampoo or … well, no point speculating I guess. But I need to know… ;-) (Please…) XD

alksdjjashfdjaskgf definitely NEXT TIME :D oh yessss his jacket will be the death of us. And his smell. And his fingers and his fucking long neck and smile and hnnnng!!!!
I’m sure we’ll all be tempted to return to Sheffield if Simm ever does, so it’s a definite possibility. ;) And hnng, yes. The scene where he came out without a coat over his shirt? I started going “adjfhgkf neck.” Also his eyes - let’s not forget those. Dear Mr. Simm: Your (whiskey) eyes kill me.

Yesyesyes, we are still not over it, too, just like you! And his smiiiileeeee I CAN’T and he’s so shy and so fucking adorable!!! Asjdhshjdfgdhfghdajsdahd. I’m dead.
He iiiis. :3 So adorable and shy and fidgety. Oh, oh, and - there was a night at the stage door when he came out and everyone was too hesitant to approach him, so he easily could’ve made a getaway (because he’s clearly not overly fond of that part), but he stopped and turned back and gestured for us to go ahead give him the things to sign. So as shy and awkward as he is, he’s lovely. <3
I’m really digging the photos you guys have been posting, btw! My photos came out terribly, so it’s been awesome to see some nice ones. (“Nice” is an understatement, really, since he’s just inhumanly attractive, but yes.)

I nearly choked on my cuppa when I saw this… :-)
……… How did I not find this before???
- Me: Yeah, no. I'VE written better porn than that.
- Family: ...?!
- Me: I mean I've READ better porn than that!
- Family: ... o.0
- Me: For school?
- LOL - I tend to agree with your first statement...but there is something quite compelling about it too. I think I may have to adapt some of my fic and market it if its that easy... LOL
I have just spent an hour (maybe longer…) trawling through philiponmycracker’s awesome tumblr blog. It has reminded me all over again just why I love ‘Life on Mars’ and Sam and Gene so much … and of course John and Phil for being them and for loving the show so much too that almost an interview never goes by without them referencing it. It truly was (is) the most amazing show ever and there will NEVER be anything quite like it again. (in my humble opinion, at least)
I can’t quite believe either, that I have been a John Simm fan for almost six years now (I only ‘discovered’ him after the first series of LoM finished airing, to my eternal shame) and still love everything he does just as much as I did when I first saw it. Erm… I don’t mean that I’m surprised I still like him (cause that would be plainly ridiculous - what’s not to like, after all?!? He’s an extremely talented and nice man) but that it has been six years. Where has the time gone?!? But the good thing about it is that he just keeps getting better and better… and now I have only nine sleeps (nine!!!) until I see him in ‘Betrayal’ in Sheffield… oh, life doesn’t get much better, does it? :-) And with that, ‘I to bed,’ as another Samuel would say (Pepys, in case you hadn’t guessed… it’s thanks to John Simm in fact that I discovered Samuel Pepys has a Twitter feed … my OH and I read the diaries years and years ago before our son (another Sam - it’s a family name and a lovely one!) was even born and now he’s reading them for his history course at Sixth Form college… as Dirk Gently would say, it’s the ‘interconnectedness of things…’ XD
